Looking for a Community Sponsor

In our mid-September update, we said we would decide what to do with the Community kit by October 1st, 2026. We've thought long and hard about it, and we decided on finding a key sponsor.

Keeping Community free and complete#

We’re looking for a Community Sponsor to keep Obra shadcn/ui Community free, without any annoying “upsell” aspects.

Obra shadcn/ui Community is the free edition of our kit on Figma Community. It has been duplicated over 50,000 times.

We were leaning towards reducing the number of features in our free offering, but we don’t really love the idea of removing features from what is currently a cohesive whole. We don’t want people to discover five days into creating their design system that they might have to start again with a new file.

We do believe our Obra shadcn/ui Pro additions are worthwhile: CSS Export, all 8 shadcn/ui styles in separate files, Pro blocks and upcoming AI skills. But these upgrades stand on their own, and you can upgrade to them from the Community edition. There’s no need to cripple the free kit to make them valuable.

A sponsor lets us keep the Community kit as it is. In the video above, I explain why.

What a sponsor gets#

The sponsor will be featured on our website and in the kit. They’ll be able to put their brand name in front of thousands of designers, and use Obra’s traffic — both on the kit itself and on this website — to extend their reach.
